Family Memories-2013 Album Share

I am sorry it’s been so long since I posted a layout from my 2013 album! Life has been a little crazy this summer. But I am back and hope to get a layout a week if not more done so I can catch up and move on to my 2014 album (which of course is not actually done yet but lets not go there)

This was one of the layouts I created towards the end of completing this album and when I look at it I can kind of tell. Don’t get me wrong my style is still there but it has a rushed look to it as I was just really wanting to finally have an album FINISHED!

It was also a hard layout to create as this was the last photo I have with my Grandpa who has since passed away.

My entire life they lived way up north Quisnel in the winter and Kelowna in the summer, so when they decided to move down to the mainland to be closer to everyone it was so nice. I was able to come and visit them almost every week.

This photo is also really special because it was taken right before I found out I was pregnant with Jaxon. I can tell by the roundness in my face now but back then I had no idea such a miracle was on its way.

This was a very simple layout with a simple message about loving how close they are to me now but I am happy its in my album so I can always remember that time with them.

SMS Sparklers Squads Unite-August Blog Hop

How is it August already, I swear I was just making new years resolutions!

I hope you have been having a fantastic morning hopping along with all the amazing inspiration from my fellow sparklers!  You should have hopped over here from the lovely Felicia Young.  This month I really wanted to highlight a layout using the awesome NEW Cloudy Days Felties and the sequins Jody so beautifully puts together.

DSC05116At first I wasn’t exactly sure where I was going to use them in my layout until I came up with the idea to incorporate them into my title! I knew I wanted a fun and summery look because my photo just screamed for it (you can see the photo in the final layout), which made me decide on the hand stitched title in different colours.

Then I went to my bags of sequins and letters I thought would match the colour scheme and painstakingly placed them to fit into each letter! I ended up with three letters being decorated like that.DSC05119

S- with the orange sequins from A Day in the Woods

M- with the beautiful shinny blue from Magic Day in the Park

E- with the shinny gold stars that I’m in LOVE with from Hot Right Now

After that I decided I didn’t want to add too much more as I was afraid it might become a little overloaded so I simply added three of the clouds and small alphas from my stash to finish of the title and read “Sunshine & Summer Time ’16”.

WitDSC05121h so much going on with the title I knew I was going to keep my photo area as simple as possible, but I wanted a little texture so I grabbed my favourite shimmerz colour Sea U in the Mornin’ and my Shimelle heart stencil to create the desired effect I was looking for. Then added a few pieces of pattern paper and a few pieces of ephemera from my Cocoa Vanilla bowl and called it good. I did want to add a little more texture to the bottom or the photo area so I added a strip of Amy Tan washi and then painted one of the heart banners from my Red Felt-Fetti Hearts with some Gummy Berry Blue shimmerz so the colour helped play off my sons shirt.

Then added my journaling on the other side so it helped make the triangle effect that is so pleasing to my eye and called it good.Layouts2

I had a lot of fun with this layout and I feel like I was able to make that summery feel come to life with the help of the sequins and felt clouds. Don’t forget you can find all of the fun product for yourself to try at SpiegelMom Scraps Shop!!
